TALMUD TORAH INTEREST

Talmud Torah is Beth El's religious school for students in Pre-K through Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Classes meet once or twice weekly (depending on age). Our school is a warm, welcoming and inclusive learning environment. Teachers engage students and equip them to become thoughtful, socially-conscious and Jewishly literate members of their community. We use a flexible tuition model that allows you to decide how much you are able to contribute towards your child’s formal Jewish education at Beth El. You must complete this membership renewal form before you can register your child(ren) for Hebrew School.

If you are interested in Talmud Torah -- to learn more and/or to enroll your child(ren) -- check the box below. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to Beth El's Executive Director, Ed Fleishman at execdirector@betheldurham.org.

YAHRZEITS

If you have Yahrzeits you would like to observe, you can provide details about your loved one(s) below.

FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS

Membership dues are not fees for service, just as our synagogue is not merely a building. But they do provide the financial foundation for Beth El. Dues levels are determined by the amount, per household, needed to support our community’s wants and needs. About 60% of our operating budget is funded by dues, and 20% by Annual Fund donations. Our fiscal year runs from June 1st to May 31st and dues are billed by the fiscal year.

The total amount you pledge on this form is your contribution for the entire year. You are not expected to pay it in full today. We do encourage anyone who doesn't pay in full to setup monthly recurring payments through your new ShulCloud account and we offer support if help is needed setting this up. A $100 deposit is due upon completion of this form, then your remaining pledge will be billed to you.

MEMBERSHIP DUES

**Anyone who wants to be part of our community can join, regardless of personal financial circumstances.**

If you cannot afford to pay the full dues amount, we will absolutely meet you at a level you can afford. This is called “Adjusted Dues” and the process is simple and confidential: we ask you to define what a meaningful contribution is for your household. You will be provided more information when you select an "ADJUSTED" category below.

ADJUSTED DUES

We're glad you're here, in community with us! If you've selected the "Adjusted Dues" option, it is because you are unable to pay the standard dues amount. Rather than offering a generic discount, we want you to tell us what a meaningful contribution is for your household. We do not require proof of financial need, but we would like to understand your circumstances and how we can support you this year.

Below is a space to provide whatever information you are comfortable sharing. It will be kept confidential among the relevant staff, and not shared with fellow congregants. If you have any questions, please contact Executive Director, Ed Fleishman: ExecDirector@betheldurham.org, or Bookkeeper, Noelle Satterfield: bookkeeper@betheldurham.org.
Write in your dues pledge for the year. Remember, you are not required to make this full payment today.

ANNUAL FUND

The Annual Fund makes up the gap from what membership dues don't cover. It allows us to welcome everyone, regardless of the amount they are able to pay, with open arms. Dues adjustments are possible for members who need them because others contribute above the standard amount. Please consider making your pledge to the Annual Fund today.

Donors of $1,000 or more to this year's Annual Fund will be recognized as part of the Beth El Shoreshim ("Roots") Society.

KIDDUSH & ONEG FUND

Kiddush is an important part of the culture of Beth El. Every Saturday you are welcome to join us for a Shabbat Kiddush lunch. Each household contributes $154 to support our community in this way.

BETH EL SISTERHOOD

Sisterhood is a vibrant, interesting, and fun-loving group, encompassing women of all ages, experiences, and backgrounds. Dues are free for the first year of membership and $40 for each year following.

MEN OF BETH EL

Men of Beth El is a male-identifying fellowship and service group. Dues are $18 per year.
