Sheva Zucker will be speaking about her recent book and recording, The Golden Peacock: The Voice of the Yiddish Writer Bilingual on March 4 at 7:30 pm via Zoom.

Sheva Zucker will be speaking about her recent book and recording, The Golden Peacock. Born in
Winnipeg, Sheva is a well-known Yiddishist who taught at Duke for many years. Many members know
Sheva and her husband, Sandy Kessler, from their time as Beth El members. From 2005 to 2015, she
directed the League for Yiddish and the Uriel Weinrich Summer Program in Yiddish Literature and
Culture, which is under the auspices of Bard College and YIVO. The Golden Peacock brings several
Yiddish authors “back to life,” as JTS professor David Roskies has written.

You do not need to know Yiddish to enjoy this talk!
